H Fin Tubes

Square & Double-H Fin Tubes for Economizers

H Fin Tubes

H Fin Tubes Manufacturer and Supplier

Amardeep Steel Centre LLP manufactures and supplies H fin tubes for boiler economizers, air preheaters and waste heat recovery systems. Our H fin tubes are built on carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel base tubes to ASTM and ASME standards, with the fin plates flash welded and pressure tested before dispatch. Send us your base tube grade, fin height and row arrangement and our technical team will confirm the right H fin tube specification within 24 hours.

What Are H Fin Tubes?

H fin tubes, also known as square fin tubes or H type fin tubes, are manufactured by symmetrically welding two steel curved plates together along a base tube, so the cross section shape of the fin is similar to the letter H. When there are two base tubes, sharing the common fin structure, they are known as HH type fin tubes, double H fin tubes and rectangular fin tubes.

The rectangular shape provides H fin tubes with a greater heat transfer surface area than a plain tube of the same length, and being a flat profile does not suffer from ash or dust accumulation and can be mechanically cleaned more easily than helical or spiral fin tubes. This means that H fin tubes are the preferred solution in the dirtiest, highest fouling locations of a boiler.

H Fin Tubes Material and Specification

We manufacture H fin tubes on the same base tube grades used across our boiler tube range, so the fin tube and the plain tube sections of a project can be sourced from a single supplier.

How H Fin Tubes Are Manufactured

Each H fin tube starts as a certified base tube cut to the required length. Two fin plates are pre curved and positioned symmetrically along the tube, then joined to the base tube by flash resistance welding, a process that produces a high strength, fully fused weld with good thermal conductivity between fin and tube.

After welding, every H fin tube assembly is checked for weld continuity and subjected to a hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure test so any leak path is caught before the tube leaves the works.

H Fin Tubes FAQs

Q. What is an H fin tube used for?

H fin tubes are used in the tail end heat recovery sections of boilers, mainly economizers and air preheaters, where the flue gas carries dust or ash. The rectangular H profile resists fouling better than a helical fin and is easier to clean.

Q. What is the difference between H type and HH type fin tubes?

H type fin tubes use one base tube with two welded fin plates forming an H shape. HH type, also called double H or rectangular fin tubes, uses two base tubes sharing one fin structure, which gives a more rigid assembly for longer tube rows.

Q. What base tube material is used for H fin tubes?

Carbon steel base tubes to ASTM A179, A192 or A210 are standard for economizer duty. Where flue gas temperature or corrosion is higher, we supply alloy steel (ASTM A213 T11, T22) or stainless steel base tubes.

Q. How are H fin tubes manufactured?

Two curved fin plates are flash welded symmetrically along the base tube. Every finished H fin tube is pressure tested to confirm the weld is sound before it is dispatched.

Q. Can H fin tubes be supplied with IBR certification?

Yes. We issue IBR Form III B alongside the standard EN 10204 3.1B mill test certificate for H fin tubes destined for India registered boiler projects.
