C37000 Muntz Metal Brass Pipes (Free Cutting) Supplier and Exporter

C37000 Muntz Metal Brass Pipes

C37000 Muntz metal brass pipes are what you ask for when a Muntz metal part has to be machined as well as formed. Muntz metal is free from cutting, that is composed of approximately 60% copper and other elements that comprise zinc. The amount of lead added should be 0.8 to 1.5% so that the chip breaks clean while extending the lifespan of the tool. That lead makes it a leaded brass. It is not a lead free grade.

Amardeep Steel Centre supplies C37000 brass pipe and C37000 brass tube from Mumbai, as a C37000 brass pipe supplier in India and for export buyers. Some buyers ask for the same material as C37000 hollow bar, so if that is what your drawing says, tell us. Send the outside diameter, wall thickness, length, temper and quantity on the enquiry page and Amardeep Steel Centre replies with what can be shipped and when.

Application of C37000 Muntz Metal Brass Pipes

  • Screw machine parts: Bushes, sleeves and connectors turned on automatic lathes from tube.
  • Automotive components: Turned and formed parts where clean machining and a good surface matter.
  • Turned and threaded fittings: Fittings used in service that does not carry drinking water.
  • Hot-pressed and forged parts: Components that are pressed or forged hot and then finished by machining.
  • Industrial hardware: Sleeves, terminals and machined hardware for general engineering.

If the duty involves drinking water or seawater, this is the wrong page. See our lead free brass pipes and tubes, admiralty brass seamless tube, aluminium brass seamless tube and copper nickel 90 10 pipes and tubes ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are C37000 Muntz metal brass pipes?

C37000 is free cutting Muntz metal, a brass with about 60 per cent copper, 40 zinc and 0.8 to 1.5 per cent lead. The lead makes it machine cleanly, and the 60/40 base keeps good hot working. It is supplied as pipe and tube for screw machine parts, hardware and pressed or forged components.

Is C37000 the same as C28000 Muntz metal?

No. C28000 is plain Muntz metal with lead held to 0.30 per cent maximum. C37000 is the free cutting version, with 0.8 to 1.5 per cent lead so chips break and tools last longer. Choose C28000 for hot forming, and C37000 when the part is turned, drilled or threaded in volume.

Is C37000 lead free?

No. The standard allows 0.8 to 1.5 per cent lead, and it is there on purpose to help machining. Do not use C37000 for drinking water parts or where a lead restriction applies. For those jobs ask us for a lead free brass such as C27400 or C26000, and tell us the rule you must meet.

How machinable is C37000 compared with C36000?

C37000 is rated about 70 where free cutting brass C36000 is 100. It cuts well and breaks a clean chip, but not as fast as C36000, which carries 2.5 to 3.7 per cent lead. In return it hot forms better. Tell us the machining you plan and we will advise.

Is C37000 suitable for seawater?

We do not recommend it. C37000 has no tin inhibitor and a two phase structure, so it can lose zinc in seawater and many aggressive waters. For marine or condenser duty ask for naval brass, admiralty brass, aluminium brass or copper nickel, and tell us the water and the service.

Which standards cover C37000 pipe and tube?

ASTM B135 is the usual standard for seamless brass tube, and B251 gives the general requirements. CuZn38Pb1 and JIS C3710 are the nearest European and Japanese names, not identical. Name the standard, temper and tolerance on your order so tests match your drawing.

Looking to Enquire or Place an Order?

Tell Amardeep Steel Centre the size, the temper and the quantity, and what the part has to do. You get a price, a delivery date and a straight view on whether C37000 is the right brass for the job, and if it is not, we say so. You can attach your drawing to the enquiry.
