Monel 400 is a solid solution alloy composed of approximately 63–67% nickel and 23–28% copper, along with trace elements such as iron, manganese, carbon, silicon, and sulfur. This composition provides excellent mechanical strength, high ductility, and outstanding resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments. It performs exceptionally well in seawater, brackish water, steam, and chemical processing conditions, making it ideal for marine, offshore, and industrial applications.
Our Monel 400 sheets and plates offer superior resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and various acidic and alkaline environments. They show excellent resistance to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids in de-aerated conditions but are not recommended for nitric acid and ammonia exposure. The material retains strong mechanical properties even at subzero temperatures and can operate effectively up to approximately 1000°F (538°C). Cold working enhances hardness and strength, while good thermal conductivity supports heat exchanger applications.
