What are Forged Socket Weld Elbow Fittings?

A Forged Socket Weld Elbow is a pipe fitting manufactured by hot forging, which produces grain flow aligned with the fitting shape and results in superior strength over cast alternatives. The socket weld end connection accepts the pipe into a recessed socket before fillet welding, creating a permanent, leak proof joint rated for high pressure and high temperature service. Conforming to ASME B16.11, these elbows are preferred over threaded fittings in permanent piping systems carrying hazardous, toxic, or flammable media.

These fittings are available in 45 degree, 90 degree, and 180 degree (Return Bend) configurations and can be paired with our Forged Socket Weld Tee for multi directional flow control or with Forged Threaded Pipe Fittings where removable connections are required.
