DIN Flanges Overview

Since 1995, Amardeep Steel has been manufacturing and supplying DIN Flanges from Mumbai, serving engineering contractors, procurement houses, and plant operators across six continents. Our DIN flange range is built to German DIN standards, the same specifications that shaped European industrial piping for decades, and still widely called out on drawings and BOMs across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
Yes, EN 1092-1 has largely taken over in Europe. But walk into any retrofit project, legacy plant, or international job site, and DIN is still what engineers are specifying. That's exactly why we keep it stocked.
Every flange we ship goes through forging and precision machining, not just cutting or stamping. This matters for dimensional accuracy, especially when you're working with PN64 or PN100 pressure classes where tolerances are tight and a poorly machined bore face will cause problems downstream. We cover the full size range from DN10 to DN2000, and pressure ratings from PN6 right through to PN100.
Need Weld Neck, Blind, Slip-On, Threaded, or Plate Flanges? We stock them. Need an odd size or a material cert for a Norway offshore project? We handle that too. Whatever the DIN flange dimension or pressure class you're working with, call our Mumbai team directly and we'll confirm availability and turn around a quote the same day.

Types of DIN Flanges
Amardeep Steel supplies the following DIN Flanges types, all available in forged or plate configurations:
1. DIN Weld Neck Flanges
DIN Weld Neck Flanges (DIN 2631-2638) are designed for high-stress, high-pressure environments. The long tapered hub provides excellent stress distribution and prevents leakage. Ideal for petrochemical, power generation, and refinery applications. Explore our range of Weld Neck Raised Face Flanges for complete specifications.
2. DIN Blind Flanges (DIN 2527)
DIN 2527 Blind Flanges are solid discs used to seal off the end of a piping system or vessel opening for pressure testing and maintenance. Available in PN6 through PN100. Browse our Blind Raised Face Flanges page for more details.
3. DIN Plate Flanges / Slip-On Flanges
DIN Plate Flanges (DIN 2573, DIN 2576, DIN 2502, DIN 2503, DIN 2543), also called slip-on flanges, slide over the pipe and are welded both inside and outside for strength. Our Slip-On Raised Face Flanges and Plate Flanges pages provide full dimensional data.
4. DIN Threaded Flanges
DIN Threaded Flanges (DIN 2565, DIN 2566, DIN 2567, DIN 2568, DIN 2561) screw directly onto the pipe without welding, ideal for systems where welding is not permitted. Available with NPT, BSPT, and BSPP threads. See our Screwed/Threaded Flanges for full specifications.
5. DIN Socket Weld Flanges
DIN Socket Weld Flanges (DIN 2673) feature an internal socket that accepts the pipe end and is then fillet welded externally. Perfect for small-diameter, high-pressure lines. See Socket Weld Raised Face Flanges for our complete range.
6. DIN Loose Flanges / Lap Joint Flanges
DIN Lap Joint Flanges (DIN 2641, DIN 2642) consist of two components, a stub end and a loose backing flange, allowing free rotation for easy bolt-hole alignment. Frequently used with corrosion-resistant stub ends.
7. DIN Reducing Flanges
DIN Reducing Flanges (DIN 2656) connect pipes of different diameters within a single flanged joint, eliminating the need for additional reducer fittings.
8. DIN Orifice Flanges
Designed for flow measurement applications, these flanges include tapped holes for differential pressure connections. View Orifice Flanges for specifications.

DIN Flanges vs ANSI Flanges
Understanding the difference between DIN Flanges and ANSI / ASME B16.5 Flanges is critical for project specification:
- Pressure Rating System: DIN flanges use PN (Pressure Nominale) ratings (PN6-PN400); ANSI flanges use Class ratings (Class 150-2500).
- Dimensions: DIN flanges follow metric dimensions (mm); ANSI flanges use inch-based dimensions.
- Bolt Patterns: DIN and ANSI bolt hole patterns are not interchangeable even at similar pipe sizes.
- Standards Body: DIN is German (Deutsches Institut fuer Normung); ANSI/ASME is American.
- Regional Use: DIN flanges are standard in European and Middle Eastern projects; ANSI/ASME dominates North American and many Asian projects.
- Successor Standard: DIN flanges have largely been replaced by EN 1092-1 in Europe. See our EN 1092-1 Flanges page for the updated standard.
DIN vs EN 1092-1: Understanding the Standards
The DIN standard (Deutsches Institut fuer Normung) has been largely replaced by EN 1092-1 in Europe since 2007. However, DIN flanges remain widely specified in legacy systems, retrofit projects, and global markets outside Europe. Many engineers and procurement teams still reference DIN dimensions due to their long-established use.
EN 1092-1 uses PN ratings like DIN, but with updated dimensional tolerances and expanded pressure/temperature ratings. When specifying new projects in Europe, EN 1092-1 is the current standard. For replacement parts or global projects, DIN remains common.
Amardeep Steel manufactures both DIN and EN 1092-1 flanges. Browse our EN 1092-1 Flanges page for the updated European standard.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - DIN Flanges
What is a DIN Flange?
A DIN Flange is a pipe flange manufactured according to the German Deutsches Institut fuer Normung (DIN) standard for circular flanges in industrial piping systems. DIN flanges are specified by nominal diameter (DN) and pressure rating (PN), and cover types including blind, weld neck, slip-on, threaded, socket weld, lap joint, and reducing flanges.
What are the DIN flange dimensions for DN50 PN16?
For a DN50 PN16 DIN Flange: Outer Diameter (O.D.) = 165 mm, Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD) = 125 mm, Bolt Holes = 4 x 18 mm. These DIN flange dimensions apply to slip-on, weld neck, and blind flange types at PN16 pressure rating.
What is the difference between DIN 2527 and DIN 2633?
DIN 2527 refers to Blind Flanges (solid flanges used to seal piping ends), available from PN6 to PN100. DIN 2633 refers to Weld Neck Flanges at PN16 pressure rating. Both are manufactured to precise DIN flange dimensions for metric piping systems.
What pressure rating is PN16 equivalent to in ANSI Class?
PN16 is approximately equivalent to ANSI Class 150 for many applications, though the exact equivalence depends on the material and temperature. PN25 is roughly between Class 150 and Class 300. Always verify with your engineer for critical applications.
Can DIN flanges be used with ANSI flanges?
DIN and ANSI flanges are not directly interchangeable due to differences in outer diameter, bolt circle diameter, and bolt hole count. Adapter flanges or specially designed transition flanges are required when connecting DIN piping to ANSI piping systems.
What materials are available for DIN Flanges from Amardeep Steel?
Amardeep Steel supplies DIN Flanges in Stainless Steel (SS304, SS316, SS316L, SS904L), Carbon Steel (ASTM A105, A350 LF2), Alloy Steel (ASTM A182 F11, F22, F91), Duplex Steel, Super Duplex, Inconel, Hastelloy, Titanium, Monel, and Copper Nickel.
What bolt torque is recommended for DIN flanges?
Bolt torque depends on flange size, pressure rating, gasket type, and bolt material. For DIN PN16 flanges with standard spiral-wound gaskets, typical torque ranges from 50-80 Nm (DN15-DN50) up to 600-800 Nm (DN300+). Always follow your gasket manufacturer's torque chart and applicable standards (VDI 2230, DIN EN 1591) for critical applications. Contact Amardeep Steel for project-specific torque recommendations.
