Carbon Steel BS 3059 Boiler Tubes, BS-3059 Seamless Pipe, BS 3059 Pipes, BS 3059 Part 1 and Part 2 Grade 320 ERW Tubes Manufacturer in India, BS 3059 Boiler Tubes, BS 3059 Gr 360/440 Medium Carbon Steel Boiler Tube, Supplier in Mumbai, India

Mild steel pipes and tubes are another name for BS 3059-1 Grade 320 Carbon Steel ERW Tubes. BS 3059-1 Grade 320 ERW Tubes are low-cost Low Carbon Steel Tubes with a maximum carbon content of 0.16 percent and a manganese content of between 0.3 and 0.7 percent. They are easy to shape and form. These pipes are made to BS Specification and are called CS Pipes or MS Pipes in the business world. Big carbon steel pipes are harder than low-carbon steel pipes, but the surface of a low-carbon steel pipe can be made harder by carburizing it. These BS 3059 ERW Boiler Tubes sit within our broader carbon steel pipes & tubes range.
BS 3059-2:1990 calls for tubes with an outside diameter of no more than 127 mm and a wall thickness of no more than 12.5 mm. It can be split into two types based on the temperature at which it is used: general boiler pipes and high-pressure boiler pipes.
BS 3059 Part 2 Grade 360 Seamless Tubes
BS 3059-2 Grade 360 Carbon Steel Seamless Tubes are low-cost low-carbon steel tubes with a maximum carbon content of 0.17% and manganese of 0.40% to 0.80%. Easy to shape and bend, BS 3059 Grade 360 offers higher strength than Grade 320 for general and high-pressure boiler service. For applications needing drawn-from-billet integrity, these align with our wider seamless carbon steel tubes offering.
Like Part 1 tubes, BS 3059 Part 2 Grade 360 is produced to British Standard and is referred to as CS or MS pipe in industry. Surface hardness can be increased by carburizing where wear resistance is required.

BS 3059 ERW Boiler Tubes Applications
CS BS 3059 Part 1 Grade 320 ERW Boiler & Heat Exchanger Tubes are valued for economical, high-volume boiler and heat-exchanger duty. Because Grade 320 is electric resistance welded, it offers tight tolerances at lower cost; for related welded products see our ERW welded pipes. BS 3059 ERW Boiler Tubes are used across steam boilers, fossil-fuel and electric power plants, heat exchangers, cogeneration facilities, air pre-heater units, waste-heat plants, economisers, and power generation systems.
For complete thermal-equipment packages, BS 3059 tubes are frequently ordered alongside our heat exchanger tubes and other boiler-grade products.

Intro: Alongside Carbon Steel BS 3059 Boiler Tubes, these alloy grades (T11/P11, T12/P12, T22/P22, T9/P9, T91/P91) extend service to higher temperatures. This lets Amardeep Steel Centre supply a complete boiler-tube package — from mild-steel BS 3059 ERW tubes to creep-resistant chrome-moly grades such as ASTM A335 P11 alloy steel pipes — under a single order.
Manufacturing process & inspection
Tubes are produced by ERW or seamless cold-drawing routes, then subjected to hydrostatic testing, eddy-current or NDT examination, dimensional checks, and mechanical testing. Every BS 3059 order ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and full traceability, with third-party inspection available on request.
Frequently Asked Questions About BS 3059 Boiler Tubes
Q1. What is BS 3059?
BS 3059 is the British Standard for steel boiler and superheater tubes used in steam-generating plant. It covers low-carbon, medium-carbon, and alloy steel tubes for boilers, heat exchangers, and pressure equipment, specifying chemistry, mechanical properties, dimensions, and testing. BS 3059 is split into Part 1 (ERW tubes) and Part 2 (seamless and welded tubes) for different service requirements.
Q2. What is the difference between BS 3059 Part 1 and Part 2?
BS 3059 Part 1 covers low-carbon ERW (electric resistance welded) tubes such as Grade 320, used for economical boiler and heat-exchanger duty. BS 3059 Part 2 covers seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel tubes, including Grade 360 and Grade 440, supplied where higher pressure rating, temperature capability, or integrity is required.
Q3. What is BS 3059 Grade 320?
BS 3059 Grade 320 is a low-carbon steel ERW boiler tube with a maximum carbon content of 0.16% and manganese of 0.30–0.70%. Also known as mild steel tube, it is easy to form, bend, and weld, making BS 3059 Part 1 Grade 320 ERW Boiler Tubes a cost-effective choice for general boiler and heat-exchanger applications.
Q4. What is BS 3059 Grade 360?
BS 3059 Grade 360 is a low/medium-carbon seamless boiler tube under BS 3059 Part 2, with a maximum carbon content of 0.17% and manganese of 0.40–0.80%. It offers higher strength than Grade 320 and is used for general and high-pressure boiler tubes, superheaters, economisers, and heat exchangers.
Q5. What is the BS 3059 material specification?
The BS 3059 material specification defines chemistry (carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulphur), mechanical properties, dimensions, and testing for boiler tubes. BS 3059-2:1990 limits outside diameter to 127 mm and wall thickness to 12.5 mm, and classifies tubes as general boiler tubes or high-pressure boiler tubes based on operating temperature and duty.
Q6. What is the BS 3059 equivalent ASTM grade?
BS 3059 boiler tubes correspond broadly to ASTM A179 (cold-drawn heat-exchanger tubes), ASTM A192 (seamless high-pressure boiler tubes), and ASTM A210 (medium-carbon boiler and superheater tubes). These equivalents allow buyers to cross-reference British and American standards while sourcing the same boiler and pressure-service performance.
Q7. What is BS 3059 ERW?
BS 3059 ERW refers to electric resistance welded boiler tubes produced under BS 3059 Part 1, primarily Grade 320. The ERW process forms tubes from strip to tight dimensional tolerances at lower cost than seamless, while still meeting boiler-grade chemistry, hydrostatic pressure testing, and NDT requirements for heat-exchanger and boiler service.
Q8. What sizes are available for BS 3059 boiler tubes?
Carbon Steel BS 3059 Boiler Tubes are supplied from 1/8″NB to 30″NB. Under BS 3059-2:1990, outside diameter is limited to 127 mm and wall thickness to 12.5 mm. Custom diameters, wall thicknesses, and lengths are available in both ERW and seamless forms with plain, beveled, or threaded ends.
Q9. What testing and certification come with BS 3059 tubes?
BS 3059 boiler tubes undergo hydrostatic testing, NDT or eddy-current examination, dimensional checks, and mechanical testing. Each order ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and full material traceability, with third-party inspection available on request — ensuring your BS 3059 tubes meet boiler-code and project audit requirements.
Q10. Where are BS 3059 boiler tubes used?
BS 3059 boiler tubes are used in steam boilers, fossil-fuel and electric power plants, heat exchangers, cogeneration facilities, air pre-heater units, waste-heat plants, and economisers. Their durability, corrosion resistance, and pressure rating make BS 3059 Grade 320 ERW and Grade 360 tubes a standard choice for boiler and pressure-equipment manufacturing.
