Carbon Steel Finned Tubes

Carbon Steel Finned Tubes Manufacturer and Supplier

Amardeep Steel Centre LLP manufactures carbon steel finned tubes on ASTM A179, A192 and A210 base tubes for economizers, air heaters and general process heat exchangers. Our carbon steel finned tubes are available in H type, extruded, welded and crimped fin construction. Tell us your application and we will recommend the right fin type and base tube grade.

What Are Carbon Steel Finned Tubes?

Carbon steel finned tubes are carbon steel base tubes, manufactured to ASTM A179, A192 or A210, with fins added by one of several construction methods. They are the most widely specified finned tube material, used wherever cost effective finned heat transfer is required and the operating environment or temperature does not call for alloy or stainless steel.

Fin Construction Options for Carbon Steel Finned Tubes

Carbon steel finned tubes can be finished with H type welded fin for dusty, high temperature economizer service, extruded or L type fin for cleaner, lower temperature heat exchanger duty, or crimped tension wound fin for the most cost sensitive, lower temperature applications.

Carbon Steel Finned Tubes FAQs

Q. What base tube grade is used for carbon steel finned tubes?

ASTM A179 is common for heat exchanger and condenser duty, while ASTM A192 and A210 are used where the finned tube also serves a boiler pressure part function such as an economizer, matching the base tube grades already used across our standard boiler tube range.

Q. What fin type is best for carbon steel finned tubes?

It depends on the application. H type welded fin suits dusty, high temperature economizer service, extruded or L type fin suits cleaner, lower temperature heat exchanger duty, and crimped tension wound fin suits the lowest temperature, most cost sensitive applications. See our H Fin Tubes and Crimped Finned Tubes pages for detail on each.

Q. When should I choose alloy steel instead of carbon steel for a finned tube?

If the flue gas or process temperature exceeds roughly 480°C to 500°C, or the environment is corrosive, a Cr-Mo alloy or stainless steel base tube should be used instead. See our Alloy Steel Finned Tubes and Stainless Steel Finned Tubes pages.
