Stainless Steel 317 Flanges are molybdenum-enriched austenitic flanges that are designed to operate in corrosive environments that SS 316 cannot endure. This advantageous percentage of molybdenum (3-4) in UNS S31700 gives these flanges a clear advantage over 316 in sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and heavy chloride service - and makes them the specification of choice in FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) systems, chemical processing plants, pulp and paper mills and pharmaceutical equipment. The low-carbon SS 317L (UNS S31703, DIN 1.4438) grade completely eliminates sensitization at weld areas so that post-weld heat treatment is not required in manufactured assemblies. They follow the requirements of ASTM A182 F317 / F317L and ASME B16.5, and are offered in 150# to 2500# pressure classes with sizes between 1/2 and 48 across. Amardeep Steel exports EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates SS 317 flanges with ready stock to export to UAE, Saudi Arabia, USA, UK, and Singapore etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Stainless Steel 317 flange?
A Stainless Steel 317 flange is a pipe fitting made from a molybdenum-rich austenitic stainless steel, offering superior corrosion resistance in chemical and high-chloride environments.
What is ASTM A182 F317 flange specification?
ASTM A182 F317 is a standard specification for forged stainless steel flanges used in high-temperature and corrosion-resistant industrial applications.
What is the difference between SS 317 and SS 316 flanges?
SS 317 contains higher molybdenum than SS 316, giving it better resistance to pitting and corrosion, especially in acidic and chloride-rich environments.
What is the temperature resistance of SS 317 flanges?
SS 317 flanges can typically withstand temperatures up to around 870°C in continuous service, depending on operating conditions.
Are SS 317L flanges better for welding than SS 317?
Yes, SS 317L flanges are better for welding because they have lower carbon content, which reduces the risk of carbide precipitation and improves weldability.
