Stainless Steel 446 Forged Fittings are the most used material for the industries that require extreme heat and resistance to oxidation. Grade 446 (UNS S44600) is a high chromium ferritic stainless steel that has about 23-27% chromium content, and this gives it extraordinary scaling and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1100°C. This grade is not heat-treat hardenable because of its ferritic structure, although it provides a high level of resistance to sulfur-bearing gases and retains its stability even in continuous high-temperature conditions. The material has a good tensile strength of 485 Mpa and a yield strength of 275 Mpa, as well as good dimensional stability in pressure-based systems.
