Ship Boiler Tubes Manufacturer and Supplier
Amardeep Steel Centre LLP supplies ship boiler tubes for main and auxiliary marine boilers, exhaust gas economizers and waste heat recovery systems. Our ship boiler tubes are manufactured to ASTM and BS marine boiler grades and we coordinate third party surveyor witnessed testing for classification society approval. Tell us the classification society and grade required and we will confirm certification lead time.
What Are Ship Boiler Tubes?
Ship boiler tubes, also known as marine boiler tubes, are seamless carbon or alloy steel tubes that are utilized in main propulsion boilers, auxiliary or donkey boilers, exhaust gas economizers and waste heat recovery system on ships. Typically, the base material and manufacturing process is identical to an industrial boiler tube, but ship boiler tubes must be provided via a classification society-approved qualification pathway before their installation on a classed vessel.
Classification Society Approval for Ship Boiler Tubes
Because the vessel itself must maintain class, ship boiler tubes generally require the manufacturer to hold a type approval from the relevant classification society, such as Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS, Bureau Veritas, the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), ClassNK, RINA or CCS.
In addition to the manufacturer level approval, each batch of ship boiler tubes is normally supplied with an EN 10204 3.2 certificate, meaning an independent surveyor from the classification society has witnessed and endorsed the test results, rather than the self issued EN 10204 3.1B certificate used for standard industrial boiler tube supply.
Ship Boiler Tubes Standards and Grades
| Standard | Description |
|---|---|
| ASTM A213 | Seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy steel boiler and heat exchanger tubes |
| ASTM A192 | Seamless carbon steel boiler tube for high pressure service |
| BS 3059 Part II | British standard for boiler and superheater steel tubes |
| DIN 17175 | Seamless steel tubes for elevated temperature service |

Ship Boiler Tubes FAQs
Q. What certification is required for ship boiler tubes?
Ship boiler tubes generally require the manufacturer to hold a type approval from a classification society, plus an EN 10204 3.2 certificate where the test results are witnessed and endorsed by an independent surveyor from a society such as Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS or IRS.
Q. What is the difference between a ship boiler tube and an industrial boiler tube?
The base material and manufacturing process are usually identical, typically ASTM A213 or A192 seamless tube. The difference is the qualification route: ship boiler tubes must go through an approved manufacturer scheme with surveyor witnessed testing because the finished vessel itself must maintain classification society approval.
Q. Which classification societies does Amardeep Steel Centre work with?
We coordinate third party inspection and certification support across the major classification societies, including Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS, Bureau Veritas and IRS, in line with the third party inspection capability we already offer across our boiler tube range.
Q. What are exhaust gas economizer tubes on a ship?
Exhaust gas economizers, sometimes called composite boilers, recover waste heat from a ship's main engine exhaust to raise steam or hot water and reduce fuel consumption. The tube bundles inside them are a specific ship boiler tube application.
