ASTM A335 P12 Pipe Overview
ASTM A335 P12 Pipe is a chromium-molybdenum (Chrome Moly) alloy steel seamless pipe designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service. The equivalent boiler code specification is ASME SA335 P12 Pipe. Both ASTM A335 P12 and SA335 P12 are chemically and mechanically identical and are widely specified in power and process industries.
ASTM A335 P12 Alloy Steel Pipe is widely used in Power generation plants, High-pressure steam lines, Oil refineries, Petrochemical processing units & Superheater and reheater systems.
Due to its chromium (0.80–1.25%) and molybdenum (0.44–0.65%) content, this grade offers excellent creep strength, oxidation resistance, and high-temperature corrosion resistance.
The material must conform to specified chemical composition and mechanical requirements, including tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness. Heat treatment such as full annealing or normalizing and tempering is required to achieve the proper grain structure for elevated temperature service.
