API 5CT T95 casing and tubing is intended for deep sour wells where the material must handle high mechanical loads while resisting sulphide stress cracking. Amardeep Steel supplies T95 in the sizes and specifications required for demanding oilfield applications. Among the Group 2 sour-service grades, T95 provides a higher strength level than API 5CT C90 pipes and API 5CT L80 pipes. For other oilfield and process requirements, our range of seamless pipes and tubes covers multiple grades and specifications.
Each order can be supplied with mill test certificates, hardness survey records, and sulphide stress cracking test reports for the relevant heat, supporting material traceability and sour-service verification.
What Are API 5CT T95 Pipes?
API 5CT T95 is a restricted yield grade in Group 2. Its yield strength must sit between 655 and 758 MPa and its hardness may not exceed 25.4 HRC. Like C90, it has to pass a mandatory sulphide stress cracking test before it can be supplied.
Drilling engineers pick T95 for deep, high pressure sour wells where the casing or tubing has to carry a heavy load and still resist hydrogen sulphide.
Why T95 Combines Strength With Sour Resistance
T95 uses a chromium molybdenum chemistry with a minimum chromium content, tight sulphur and phosphorus limits and the highest minimum tempering temperature of any API 5CT grade. This heavy tempering gives a fine, even structure that holds a higher strength without becoming brittle in sour conditions.

API 5CT T95 Mechanical Properties
Property | Requirement |
|---|---|
Yield Strength | 655 to 758 MPa (95 to 110 ksi) |
Tensile Strength, min | 724 MPa (105 ksi) |
Maximum Hardness | 25.4 HRC (255 HBW) |

Hardness Limits and Hardness Variation
No hardness reading may exceed 25.4 HRC, and the spread of hardness through the wall of one pipe is also limited, with the allowance growing as the wall gets thicker. This stops hard spots that could start cracks in sour service.
API 5CT C90 vs T95 vs P110
Property | C90 | T95 | P110 |
|---|---|---|---|
API Group | Group 2 | Group 2 | Group 3 |
Yield Strength | 621 to 724 MPa | 655 to 758 MPa | 758 to 965 MPa |
Tensile Strength, min | 689 MPa | 724 MPa | 862 MPa |
Maximum Hardness | 25.4 HRC | 25.4 HRC | Not specified |
Sour Service (H2S) | Yes, SSC tested | Yes, SSC tested | Not recommended |
P110 is stronger again but has no hardness cap, so it is not suited to sour wells. When the well is sour and T95 is more strength than needed, C90 pipe can be the more economical choice. For sweet deep wells, see our API 5CT P110 pipes.
API 5CT T95 Colour Code
T95 pipe carries one silver band, and every length is stencilled with the grade, size, weight and heat number.
SSC Testing of API 5CT T95 Pipes
Each heat of T95 is tested for sulphide stress cracking to NACE TM0177 Method A, with specimens loaded to at least 80 percent of the specified minimum yield strength in an H2S saturated solution. Passing this test is a condition of supply.
Applications of API 5CT T95 Casing and Tubing
- Production casing in deep, high pressure sour wells
- Production tubing in sour gas condensate fields
- Intermediate casing through sour zones
- Offshore sour gas developments

Mill test certificates are issued to EN 10204 3.1, with 3.2 available on request. You can view our approvals on the certificates page.
Packing and Marking
Each length is stencilled with the manufacturer name, API 5CT, size, weight, grade, connection and heat number, and carries the API colour band for its grade. Threads are protected with steel or plastic thread protectors, and pipes are bundled or loaded loose with spacers depending on size. Read more about our packing and despatch process.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is API 5CT T95 pipe?
API 5CT T95 pipe is casing or tubing made to API 5CT in grade T95, a Group 2 restricted yield grade for sour service. It has a yield strength of 655 to 758 MPa, a maximum hardness of 25.4 HRC and must pass a sulphide stress cracking test.
Is API 5CT T95 suitable for sour service?
Yes. T95 is designed for sour wells. Its hardness is capped at 25.4 HRC, it is tempered at a high temperature and every heat must pass a NACE TM0177 Method A sulphide stress cracking test.
What is the difference between API 5CT C90 and T95?
Both are sour service grades. T95 has a higher yield range of 655 to 758 MPa against 621 to 724 MPa for C90, a higher minimum tensile strength of 724 MPa, a minimum chromium content and a higher minimum tempering temperature.
What is the colour code for API 5CT T95?
API 5CT T95 pipe is marked with one silver colour band. The grade, size, weight and heat number are also stencilled on each length.
