UNS N06617 Pipes & Tubes

UNS N06617 Pipes & Tubes

UNS N06617 pipes and tubes are a good fit for high temperature systems where alloys such as 600 and 800HT run short of creep strength or oxidation resistance. Also called Inconel 617 or Alloy 617, this nickel based alloy contains chromium, cobalt, molybdenum and aluminium, helping it remain reliable in service above 1000°C. Amardeep Steel supplies Inconel 617 pipes and tubes in seamless form to ASTM B167 and welded pipe to ASTM B546. Each order is supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and complete heat traceability. What Are UNS N06617 Pipes and Tubes?

Alloy 617 is a solid solution strengthened nickel alloy. Cobalt and molybdenum give it high creep and rupture strength, while chromium and aluminium form a protective oxide that resists oxidation and carburisation in hot, cycling service. It keeps useful strength well above the range of 800HT and 625, which is why it is used in gas turbine hot sections, high temperature process plant and gas cooled reactor designs.

Why Cobalt and Aluminium Matter

Cobalt (10% to 15%) and molybdenum (8% to 10%) strengthen the nickel matrix at high temperature. Aluminium (0.8% to 1.5%) works with chromium to form an adherent oxide layer that holds up under thermal cycling, where many alloys lose their scale.
