Titanium Grade 3 Tubes

Titanium Grade 3 Tubes

Titanium Grade 3 tubes (UNS R50550) are made to ASTM B338 in seamless and welded form. Titanium grade 3 is known for being the strongest among all the commercially available pure titanium grades since this grade has minimum tensile strength equal to 450 MPa against 345 MPa for Grade 2. This makes it a practical choice where the tube needs to handle greater pressure or where a thinner wall is preferred without giving up the corrosion resistance of commercially pure titanium. Amardeep Steel supplies Titanium Grade 3 tubes with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and complete heat traceability. You can also compare them with our ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tubes or view our range of titanium pipes and tubes.

What Are Titanium Grade 3 Tubes?

Grade 3 allows up to 0.35% oxygen and 0.30% iron, more than Grades 1 and 2. The extra interstitial content raises strength while keeping titanium's resistance to seawater, chlorides and oxidising media. Ductility is lower than Grade 2, so tight bends need care.

When to Choose Grade 3 over Grade 2

Choose Grade 3 when wall thickness or pressure drives the design: high pressure exchangers, process lines and vessels where Grade 2 would need a heavier wall. Where heavy forming is needed, Grade 2 or Grade 1 is easier to work.

Applications of Titanium Grade 3 Tubes

Testing and Documentation

Every order of Titanium Grade 3 tube goes through the checks below at our testing facility or approved third party labs.

Mill test certificates are issued to EN 10204 3.1, with 3.2 available on request. You can view our approvals on the certificates page.

Packing and Marking

Each tube is marked with ASTM B338, Titanium Grade 3, size, heat number and manufacturer name. Tubes are capped, sleeved in polythene and packed in wooden boxes so they never touch carbon steel. Read more about our packing and despatch process.
