ASTM A671 CE70 EFW pipe is intended for low-temperature service where nickel alloy steel is required. Amardeep Steel supplies enquiries specified as CE70 to the current A671 grade CFE70, manufactured from ASTM A203 Grade E plate containing 3.5% nickel. For detailed grade information, see our ASTM A671 CFE70 pipes. Projects requiring 2.25% nickel can also consider our ASTM A671 CFB70 pipes. The complete ASTM A671 EFW pipe range covers additional grades for different service conditions. Every order includes plate and weld certificates, specified temperature impact test results, and radiography reports.
What Is ASTM A671 CE70 EFW Pipe?
ASTM A671 covers electric fusion welded steel pipe for atmospheric and lower temperatures. Its nickel steel grades are made from ASTM A203 plate. Nickel lowers the temperature at which steel turns brittle, so these grades are used where carbon steel pipe would not have enough toughness.
How CE70 Orders Are Supplied
The current A671 grade table lists the nickel steel grades as CFA65, CFB70, CFD65 and CFE70. CE70 does not appear in it. Buyers who ask for CE70 at 70 ksi almost always need CFE70, the 3.5% nickel grade, so the mill certificate for a CE70 order will show CFE70 unless your specification states otherwise.

A671 Pipe Classes Explained
Class (first digit) | Heat Treatment on Pipe | Class (second digit) | Weld Radiography and Pressure Test |
|---|---|---|---|
1x | None | x0 | Neither |
2x | Stress relieved | x1 | Radiography only |
3x | Normalized | x2 | Radiography and pressure test |
4x | Normalized and tempered | x3 | Pressure test only |
5x | Quenched and tempered |
Classes ending in 2 include full radiography and a hydrostatic test. Nickel steel pipe is normally ordered stress relieved (Class 22) or normalized (Class 32).
