UNS N06690 Round Bar Manufacturer and Supplier in India

UNS N06690 Round Bar

UNS N06690 Round Bar is an alloy bar made of high chromium, nickel and iron that conforms to ASTM B166 and ASME SB166 standards and is commonly referred to as Inconel 690 and Alloy 690. The alloy's high chromium content of between 27-31 percent makes it far more resistant to oxidation and corrosive effects of chlorine and caustic compounds compared to other nickel alloys. The bar exhibits great corrosion resistance and is also highly resistant to primary water stress corrosion. This property makes it the preferred material for making steam generator tubing in nuclear reactors and other reactor components. It is also used in chemical processing equipment that handles nitric, hydrochloric, and hydrofluoric acids. The bar is available in annealed, hot finished, cold drawn, peeled, and centerless ground finishes and can be machined into shafts, fasteners, valve parts and furnace parts. Amardeep Steel Centre provides UNS N06690 Round Bar with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates.

Applications and Industrial Uses of UNS N06690 Round Bar

Frequently Asked Questions

What is UNS N06690 Round Bar?

UNS N06690 Round Bar is solid round bar in a high chromium nickel iron alloy, also sold as Inconel 690 or Alloy 690, supplied to ASTM B166 and ASME SB166 for corrosion and high temperature oxidation resistant service.

What is UNS N06690 Round Bar used for?

It is best known as the standard tubing material for nuclear steam generators, and round bar in the same grade is machined into related reactor components, chemical processing parts, furnace equipment and fasteners that need the same resistance to oxidising acids and stress corrosion cracking.

What is the difference between UNS N06690 and Inconel 600?

Both are nickel chromium iron alloys, but UNS N06690 has a much higher chromium content, around 27 to 31 percent against about 14 to 17 percent in Inconel 600, which gives it stronger resistance to oxidising acids and is why it replaced Inconel 600 as the standard nuclear steam generator tubing material.

Can UNS N06690 Round Bar be hardened by heat treatment?

No. UNS N06690 is not a precipitation hardening alloy. It is supplied annealed, and any increase in strength comes from cold work such as cold drawing, not from ageing.

What sizes is UNS N06690 Round Bar available in?

UNS N06690 Round Bar is supplied from 4 mm to 500 mm diameter in black, bright polished and ground finishes, cut to length on request.

Which documents come with UNS N06690 Round Bar?

Each supply includes an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate with the chemical and mechanical results for the heat. EN 10204 3.2 certification, third party inspection and positive material identification reports are available on request.
