S32101 Pipes & Tubes Manufacturer and Supplier in India

S32101 Pipes & Tubes are stainless steels from the lean duplex series which have the properties of being highly strong, pit-resistant, and chloride stress corrosion cracking-resistant. Also called UNS S32101, Lean Duplex 2101, and EN 1.4162, this particular type of stainless steel contains roughly 21.5% chromium, 1.5% nickel, 5% manganese, and 0.22% nitrogen. Its duplex microstructure provides a minimum yield strength of around 530 MPa for specified product forms, making it an alternative to 304L in suitable applications. Pipe is supplied to ASTM A790 and tube to ASTM A789. These products are used in water treatment plants, storage tanks, structural systems, and industrial piping. Amardeep Steel is a trusted manufacturer and supplier of S32101 Pipes & Tubes in India, supplying material with full inspection documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is UNS S32101?

UNS S32101 (lean duplex 2101, EN 1.4162) is a low-nickel lean duplex stainless steel alloyed with 21% to 22% chromium, 1.35% to 1.70% nickel, 4% to 6% manganese, and 0.20% to 0.25% nitrogen.

Which ASTM standards cover S32101 pipes and tubes?

ASTM A790 / ASME SA790 covers seamless and welded pipe, ASTM A789 / ASME SA789 covers seamless and welded tube, and ASTM A928 covers electric fusion welded (EFW) pipe.

Why does S32101 have different strength values by wall thickness?

ASTM A790 mandates higher minimum strength values for wall thicknesses up to 5 mm (700 MPa tensile, 530 MPa yield) than for heavier wall thicknesses over 5 mm (650 MPa tensile, 450 MPa yield) due to cooling rate dynamics during processing.

Can S32101 replace 304L?

Yes. In water, storage tank, and structural applications, S32101 provides superior pitting resistance, elevated resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and more than double the yield strength of 304L.

What is the difference between S32101 and S32304?

S32304 contains higher nickel (3% to 5.5%) and lower manganese. S32101 replaces most nickel content with manganese and nitrogen while maintaining a higher minimum yield strength.

Is S32101 magnetic?

Yes. Due to its dual-phase microstructure containing approximately 50% ferrite, S32101 exhibits strong magnetic properties.
