What is Alloy 925 Round Bar?
Alloy 925 Bar, commonly known as Incoloy 925 Bar and sometimes branded as Inconel 925, is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that is very high in nickel and iron, which gives Alloy 925 Bar its better strength, corrosion resistance and ability to resist heat. These combined properties make it an incredibly versatile and in-demand material across numerous industries.
The process of precipitation hardening, or "age-hardening," gives Inconel 925 its amazing mechanical capabilities. It has a basis of nickel, iron, and chromium, and key alloying elements like titanium and aluminum are added to it. When these elements go through a certain heat treatment cycle, these elements form microscopic strengthening phases (known as gamma prime, γ′) within the alloy's matrix. The internal microstructural composition is what causes the Alloy 925 Bar to deliver substantially higher strengths and remarkable toughness compared to standard, non-hardenable nickel alloys and is suitable for vital applications such as tubing valves and piping systems in high-strength applications.
There are two types of Incoloy 925 Round Bar, hot-finished or cold-finished. Hot-finished bars are made by heating rods of Incoloy 925 to higher temperature and are made by the use of drawing or extrusion methods. Cold-finished bars are made at room temperature and formed by cutting tools such as saws or abrasives. Both hot-finished bars and cold-finished bars have excellent mechanical properties.
